  2. The world is minus one great human being who touched so many people is such a positive way. Now those hearts you've touched are left with no more than a very large hole. You were a wonderful son, father, husband and friend. The 40 years we knew each other and 30 that we spent together were special with their ups and downs. However, I will eternally be grateful for the beautiful memories we shared -- the love, the passion, the friendship. You will forever remain in my heart. All I ask of you now is that you envelop Andrius with your love, strength, guidance and happy outlook on life. I will miss you terribly. Mit viele liebe -- anne

  4. I always think of all those impromptu parties in the back yard and how much fun we had. The pot lucks that Reiner loved cooking for and the surprise treats we would find by our door when he was baking or cooking! And all the things he fixed or built for all of us on Farwell.(did he ever finish his own bathroom?) But most of all I will remember the love he had for all of us and especially Andruis. We will never forget him! Judy Laing

  6. I will miss the memorial since I will be out of the country. Reinhold was a fun, energetic, passionate spirit and a breath of fresh air in his contracting career and in his later artistic career. We will miss him!

  7. Andrius and Anne,

Our thoughts are with you as you try to overcome this difficult hurdle. We wish you strength. We knew of Reiner through the many stories you relayed to us through the years, as well as the brief time we had spent with him. What a great man who never seemed to disappoint in his zest for life…a passion that rubbed off on everyone around him. You are lucky to have had such a great guy in your life. Despite that fact that he is now gone, his spirit will continue to live in the memories we have of him.

We will not be in Chicago for the memorial but we will toast him the evening of the 24th as we lift a glass to his spirit from the east coast.

    Sincerely,

The Krisst Family (Abe, Danette, Devin, Baden, and Veide)

  8. I miss you Reinhold. You added a presence to the tennis court, to my lesson, and to my life. I looked forward to every time I saw you step out onto the court. I really did. I remember the last time I saw you it was after you had completed your Wedmesday morning class with me. It was the end of the session. You were walking away with a towel in your hand and I asked you if you would be attending the next session that began the very next week. You simply put your finger down toward the court indicating that "you would be here". When you did not show up the following week, I was quite concerned....now I know why. Boy do I miss you, your spirit, your sense of humor, and everything about you....you brought joy to my heart and many others. You are missed. I hope you are at least hitting tennis balls up in heaven....how are the courts up there? Smile. God rest your soul. Love, Laura, George, and all of your tennis buddies who have asked about you for many months. God bless you Reinhold.

  9. Reiner was a man of great compassion. He always saw that you were taken care of (and well fed).
He was a man of amazing creativity. His accomplishments in so many media are a testament to how brilliant he was.

But most of all, he is a man who will continue to inspire. Be it creatively or compassionately, he set an example for us all.

Friendship, Warmth, Artistic Passion, Good Food, Good Beer. In the last two years how one person touched our lives! Reinhold was a lovely man who embraced us and endeared himself. We will both miss him, but especially Thomas, who deeply appreciated and always looked forward to meeting Reinhold and speaking Bavarian in Chicago. God bless you, Reinhold.

  11. Reinhold brought so much richness with him to all of us artists in Chicago Sculpture International. I was blown away when he hosted us at his new studio; the food, the art, his warmth infused the place. He brought so many ideas, so much enthusiasm, so much possibility to whoever he was with wherever he was. I really miss him.

  12. Regretfully, I cannot be in Chicago today sharing in the celebration of Reiner's life.
I am left with nothing but fond memories of Uncle Reiner. As a child he made me feel loved and brought a sense of cheerfulness to our family that only a very clever, sometimes dark wit could bring.
The last time I saw him was on a road trip to San Francisco. He welcomed Abe and I with such needed warmth and encouragement. As always he filled our bellies with good food and out spirits with good cheer, leaving his trace on us in our incarnadine cheeks.

    Annie and Andrius,

My thoughts are with you in this trying time. I know the celebration today will be rich with the spirit of love from those he touched.

    Love,
    Lara

  13. I didn't know Reinhold very well. He was a fellow sculptor and member of Chicago sculpture International, and I only met and talked with him a few times. Last Night at his memorial celebration I learned that he was a talented architect, who designed his beautiful home that I was in, he also had abilities to jerry rig a car, carved wooden whistles that worked for his kids and friends when they were little, was an avid sailor, could figure out how to fix just about everything, made wonderful sculptures, and was extremely generous. I am sorry that I didn't get the chance to know him better.

  14. Coffee - not tea. That was how Reinhold taught me to spell his last name.

He was all the things written above - funny, brilliant, creative, clever, warm...and oh so silly. He always made me laugh.

I missed him desparately when I left Chicago. The pain I have felt since I learned he had passed is indescribable.

But his love and admiration for his son...that is a light that will never diminish.

  15. I come back here, every so often, to see if anything has been added to remember the life of a very caring and thoughtful man. No new pictures or videos. I suppose sometimes, it's hard to go back and celebrate the life of someone who is missed. I wish I had a few pictures or something to add to the homage to his life, but I have nothing but the memories that are in my mind.
